Boat AntiFoul Maintenance & Inspections
We highly recommend regular inspections and maintenance of your antifouled surfaces & leg/Stern Drives. While AntiFouled Surfaces are resistant to Organic growth they will and do have some growth over time. Often it is required to have a diver perform a “scrape” of your hull where a special tool is used by the diver where the entire hull, running gear, strainers, etc are all scraped to free them from any growth that may have occured. This is normal and the amount of growth varies depending on the location of your berth and the time between vessel usage. Usually if this is performed when required there is no loss of antifoul coating as the antifouled surface restricts the penetration of the organic growth so it is easy to remove with the appropriate scraping tool and a skilled hull cleaning diver.
This removal of Growth regularly also increases the life expectancy of your AntiFouled surfaces as any organic growth is removed before it gets a chance to penetrate through the antifoul.
